Issues of gender based violence against women and girls have been a major challenge affecting communities of T/A Kabunduli in Nkhatabay District. To eradicate the situation, Purple Innovation for Women and Girls has commenced implementing a Project Wukani Ending Violence Against Girls in the District so that people in the communities are able to recognize and report cases for gender based violence.

Bickson Machila, Purple Innovation Board Member says Purple Innovation has renewed its commitment to gender mainstreaming by roping in more women members into the Board of Trustees of Purple Innovation.

Purple Innovation’s Wukani Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Team Leader Patricia Mtungila said the Project is being introduced to solve the challenges of gender-based violence which are high in the District.

She further said that the project will reach every household in Mzenga with messages of Ending violence in the area.

Community Victim Support Unit Vice Chairperson Brake Chirwa said that the coming of the Wukani Project will help in reducing the number of Gender-Based Violence cases in the area as people will be fed with the required information concerning the vice.
